Environmental Officer – Field Conservation (Príncipe)

About the role

FAYA is seeking a mid‑level Environmental Officer to join its Natural Dividend team on the island of Príncipe, São Tomé and Príncipe. The position focuses on biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration, with the majority of work conducted in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct environmental surveys and assessments of rural plots for biodiversity projects.
• Monitor fauna and flora populations and collect ecological data.
• Support the design and implementation of restoration initiatives across the island.
• Collaborate with NGOs, government agencies, and local stakeholders to advance conservation goals.

Required profile

• Degree in biology, forestry engineering, environmental engineering, agronomy or a related discipline.
• Minimum two years of experience in environmental or conservation projects.
• Proven fieldwork experience in natural environments.
• Fluency in Portuguese and sufficient technical English to read scientific literature.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Experience using Field Maps or Survey123 for data collection.
