Drill & Blast Technician

About the role

The Drill & Blast Technician will supervise underground drilling and blasting operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and vibration standards. Working closely with mine management teams, the role focuses on optimizing blast designs, reducing costs, and minimizing equipment downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare drilling and loading diagrams for benches, development, electric, filling, and unblocking holes.
• Monitor and control vibration levels in line with NP 2074 standards.
• Audit the execution of work underground to verify adherence to prepared diagrams.
• Analyze post‑blast results and forecast explosive consumption weekly.
• Conduct test‑pit experiments to optimise drilling and blasting processes.
• Prepare project start reports and final reconciliations.
• Analyse and optimise parameters such as fragmentation, specific consumption, over‑break, under‑break, dilution, and vibration emissions.
• Support production areas by proposing safety‑focused, cost‑effective methodological improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in mining.
• 3–5 years of experience calculating and sizing explosive charges.
• Active Explosives License and knowledge of NP 2074 vibration regulations.
