Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The role involves reviewing complex patient records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with US or UK coding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, operative reports, and discharge summaries.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS (US) or ICD-10, OPCS-4, SNOMED CT (UK) codes.
• Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS and payer guidelines for accurate revenue cycle management.
• Identify documentation gaps, query physicians, and resolve coding errors to prevent claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity, participate in audits, and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK credential.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high-speed internet and backup power supply.
• Quiet, secure, HIPAA/GDPR-compliant workspace.
