Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records, assigning appropriate ICD‑10/CPT/OPCS‑4 codes.
• Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS or insurer guidelines for revenue cycle management.
• Identify documentation gaps and query clinicians for clarification.
• Correct coding errors and resolve claim denials to protect revenue.
• Maintain high coding accuracy, participate in audits, and uphold data integrity.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or the UK equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Extensive experience with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Excellent attention to detail and pattern‑recognition abilities.
• Modern computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet, and reliable backup power.
• Quiet, secure, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
