Resident Coordinator (interim) – Sao Tome and Principe

About the role

The Resident Coordinator (interim) is the highest‑ranking United Nations representative in Sao Tome and Principe, responsible for leading the UN Country Team and ensuring coordinated implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest governmental levels and foster engagement with civil society, private sector, bilateral and multilateral partners to advance the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Lead the UN Country Team in developing, monitoring and reporting on the UN Cooperation Framework, coordinating system‑wide support to the Government and mitigating risks to SDG achievement.
• Coordinate contributions from UN entities to common country analyses, promote strategic partnerships, and oversee system‑wide financing instruments and resource mobilization.
• Ensure security coordination as Designated Official, promote staff learning, gender parity and protection from sexual exploitation, and manage dual reporting with UN country team heads.
