About the role
The United Nations Development Programme is seeking a Communications Officer for its Country Office in São Tomé and Príncipe. Reporting to the Resident Representative and working closely with the Deputy Resident Representative, the role supports the design and implementation of internal and external communication strategies to promote UNDP’s development agenda and resource mobilisation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a communications strategy that positions UNDP as a credible development partner and thought leader in the country.
- Lead strategic communications for senior management and programme leads, including joint UN advocacy initiatives.
- Manage the communications work plan and budget, adapting to emerging opportunities and programme changes.
- Conduct communications needs assessments and integrate communication components into programme and project design.
- Maintain a photo database and ensure timely media monitoring and circulation of coverage.
- Build and maintain strategic media partnerships, organise press events, and produce press releases, media kits and newsletters.
- Oversee digital communications, keeping the website up‑to‑date and developing a social‑media strategy to enhance outreach.
- Produce a range of communication products (publications, stories, news releases) for print, broadcast, online and social media channels.
