Senior Short-Term Planning Technician

About the role

The Senior Short‑Term Planning Technician creates, updates and tracks monthly, quarterly and yearly production plans, ensuring they align with the company’s strategic goals for safety, cost, and sustainability. The role works daily with operational and technical teams to optimise mining activities and guarantee that plans are practical and executable.

Key responsibilities

• Develop short‑term production plans for a production area, defining sequences, development and backfilling activities.
• Optimize mining sequences, resource utilisation and access management to maximise mineral resource value and minimise operational risk.
• Provide technical support to Production and Development teams and participate in decision‑making on operational priorities.
• Monitor compliance with production plans, analyse deviations and propose corrective actions to meet tonnage, ore grade and productivity targets.
• Collaborate with Geology and Rock Mechanics to study mining methods, optimise sequences and improve resource utilisation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in short‑term mine planning or similar roles.
• Knowledge of mine ventilation and strong command of written and spoken English.
• Familiarity with safety, health, environment and community standards applicable to mining operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik CAD, Deswik Scheduler and Vulcan.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
